Almost nothing threatens the well-being, self esteem and health of man as seriously as obesity. The modern life style, where too much is consumed compared to what the body burns, creates fertile soil for an obesity epidemic, which is very much controlled by mental, genetic, cultural and social mechanisms.
Using biology as a starting point the film will tells of the body's absorption, depositing and transformation of fat. The scientific rational explanation, which provides insight in which mechanisms control our body.
A completely different point of view will tell of betrayal, lack of self-confidence, doubtful family conditions, bullying, dreams, imminent conflicts and the eternal struggle against the weight gain. An explanation which revolves around formal and informal norms. What is appropriate and how we are marked by our surroundings.
In addition to a 35 minute film, The DVD on which film is the distributed, will contain special features, which elaborate on the elements of the film. Along with the teacher's book it can form the basis of written exercises or group work among the 13 to 16 year old students.
